The last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind. I made the decision that I was going to become a Virtual Assistant one Friday night in late February over dinner and a glass of wine (or two) with my husband.
I hadn’t returned to work following the birth of my fourth child last January. I was previously employed as a full-time office manager but working 9-5 was no longer an option for me, mainly due to the cost of childcare, but also because I needed a role that would afford more flexibility.
I will be honest, during each maternity leave I investigated the possibility of working for myself so that I could achieve a better work life balance. Nothing had previously resonated with me but as soon as I read an article about virtual assistants it was obvious that this was the role for me. Administration is what I do (very well), it’s what I enjoy doing and being my own boss allows me to fit work around my family. Perfect!
So I got planning and I’m amazed at how quickly everything is falling into place. The last few weeks have been a huge learning curve and I’m enjoying every moment. I still have a few tasks to check off my to-do list before I am operating but I am very excited about what the future holds for my new business.
I have to say a massive thank you to my husband for his never-ending support and to friends and family who have encouraged me to go for it. Thank you!
